Squad-17

Squad-17 is a medium-duty Rescue Squad unit -- an all-purpose toolbox on wheels.  Its primary function is extrication, and carries 2 complete sets of Hurst equipment, also known as the "Jaws of Life".  The "Jaws" allow us to cut and pry our way into vehicles involved in traffic accidents to free entrapped patients.  The unit also carries other miscellaneous tools, equipment for above & below grade rescues, and an Air Cascade system, which allows us to refill breathing apparatus cylinders used by Firefighters to enter buildings & provide a constant source of fresh air.  The vehicle is 1994 International cab with a Marion body.

Command-17

Command-17 was purchased in November of 2004 as the answer to our urgent need for a new "chase" vehicle.  The vehicle serves as the response vehicle for company officers, Advanced Life Support (ALS) providers, and also will be the primary vehicle for towing one of our two boats.  The vehicle is state-of-the-art, including a computerized control for the lighting system, built-in cell phone with camera and hands-free system, and custom-fitted equipment storage compartment

Boat-17

Purchased in 2002, Boat-17 is a Sea Eagle inflatable self-baling boat, and quickly became our primary response boat for our Swiftwater Rescue Team, replacing a flat-bottom "John Boat" we had previously used (which has since been placed out-of-service).  The boat is attached to a custom-built trailer with storage locker, and can be towed by all vehicles in our fleet (except for Car-17).  In addition to the standard equipment carried on-board, including life vests and throw rope, we also have a customized 12-gauge shotgun capable of firing a rope line to a stranded individual from several hundred feet away.

Support-17

With the recent purchase of Command-17, Support-17 has now become our 2nd line utility vehicle.  Support-17, a GMC Jimmy, serves as the 2nd chase vehicle in the fleet, and also has the ability to tow either of our boats.  For boat deployment operations, it's equipped with two remote control flood lights, which can be operated from several feet away, and have full 360° swivel & pan capability.

Car-17

Car-17 is also one of the vehicles in our fleet, serving as strictly a chase vehicle.  It is a Chevrolet Caprice purchased used from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
